Reviewing and regrading middle and senior roles

We have just completed the first major stage of a large project for the University of Bedfordshire to review and grade spot salary posts and job descriptions for 150 middle and senior managers. In time the project will also create HERA bandings for the staff group. With the project now moving into its second phase, Cathy Abu, Director of HR can already see the key benefits of ECC’s involvement:

Simplifying the process

In 2014 Bishop Grosseteste University asked ECC to simplify their role review process. As well as reviewing and improving the way in which Bishop Grosseteste grades new roles, deals with regrades and provides feedback to role holders, we took their original 101 job descriptions and developed 26 template job descriptions in four job families from grades 2 to 10.

Head of HR Alison Smith told us that this project simply would not have got done alongside the normal operational pressures in the HR department.
